The holidays and stuff

I know that it has been a while since I updated my blog but I am going to blame the holidays, laziness, and poor internet and cell service.

This blog post is going to be a mix of updates dealing with my current projects, running, and whatever else I feel the need to share.

1. Within two days of being home, we got a Mega blizzard to which I had the enjoyment of snow plowing for 21 hours. Almost all straight thru. It was tiring and I definitely did not get to run.

2. I did, however, run a winter race. It was part of the Survivor winter series and I ran the first race of the series which was a 5k. The race took place at Rock Cut state park in Rockford,  IL. I have never before run an ALL TRAIL snowy race. Let me tell you...quite the experience. But a good one. I ran it with my aunt, and it definitely showed me that there is a way to keep winter running mostly fun, but certainly interesting!! Ive posted a couple pictures having to do with it. The part I found the best was that instead of 3 five gallon coolers full of water and Gatorade, they had one with water and two full of hot chocolate. It was too funny to me. The race was tough, definitely lots of slipping (didn't fall though!) And slow. But time wasn't a factor to me. I did alright..I got second in my age group and overall about 82/250 or so. I also didn't have any yak trax that would have significantly helped me with grip.

3. Christmas this year was something very different from any other year. Usually we have Christmas in Iowa, but this year it took place in good ol' Wisconsin. Couple other things that were different was that almost no one came. It was just my family, my aunt and my 3 cousins, and one kidnapped grandma. Usually we have all of previously stated plus 7ish more people. It just seemed small. But because of this Christmas change, we also veered away from the traditional turkey and mashed potato dinner and had tacos and quesadillas. Next year we will have a PJ themed Christmas and the following will be tailgate themed. See? Change can be good. Pictured to go with this bullet point is a picture of my niece and nephew.

4. Lastly, I made it back to savannah to celebrate the new year. I had a great time and it is time for some changes. I am working on some personal changes as well as trying to actually cook more.
My first attempt was a parsnip tappoulah. It went alright, I sure did a couple things different/wrong, but next time will be better.

I am lucky enough to be back working very part tome but I have also been lucky enough to hang out with friends and tomorrow kicks off 7:15 a.m. practice and clases. A schedule I have never has before. Time for change. :)

THE WORLD IS OUR LIMIT AND THERE ARE ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.
